Having accessible web pages is key to providing equal access to information to individuals with disabilities. I think we can all agree that the internet is one of the primary ways we acquire information daily. What happens when those pages are unreadable to someone who is blind or contain videos with no captions for someone who is hard of hearing. The answer is simple, it cuts out access for those individuals. Most importantly, it is the law and the right thing to do to make sure we are making accessible web pages right from the beginning. But where to begin? Below, you will see some links to check the accessibility of web pages and more information on the importance of web accessibility.
